Privacy policies should be readable by humans, not just lawyers. Here is what you need to know about how Bourbon Intelligence handles your information.
The app stores the information you give it: bottle details, locations and tags, fill levels, prices you paid, tasting notes and ratings, your hunt list, and photos of bottle labels that you take for scanning. Group tasting hosts create sessions with bottle lineups; guests provide a first name and their rankings. That is the whole list. There are no accounts, no passwords, and no email address required to use the app.
When you scan a label, the photo is sent for label reading at the moment you use that feature. The reading extracts the text and details on the label so the app can draft the bottle record for you. Label photos you save are attached to your own bottle records in your household's data. We do not use your photos for advertising.
Label reading, AI bottle lookups, and record enrichment are provided by Meta's Model API, on its Contributor tier. Under that tier, Meta may use the content you submit to AI features, including label photos, lookup questions, and enrichment prompts, to improve Meta's products. That is Meta's term for the plan we use, and we would rather state it in plain words than bury it. Anything you never send to an AI feature, including your prices, notes, and rankings, is not part of that.
A tasting link is a capability: anyone holding it can join that tasting as a guest with a first name and submit rankings. Guests see only that tasting's lineup. In blind mode, bottle identities are not sent to guests' devices until the host reveals them. Guests never see the host's collection, prices, or notes, only the session itself. Tasting links expire seven days after creation.
Your data is stored on the Bourbon Intelligence server, organized per household, which is what lets the same shelf show up on your phone, your tablet, and your computer. Access is tied to a household key stored on your devices; keys can be revoked, and members you share with get their own keys. You can export your data from the app, and if you want your household's data deleted, contact us and we will remove it.
The service may keep basic operational records (request logs, error reports) to keep it running and secure. These are not used to build profiles of you or your shelf.
